What you need to know

At The World Egg and Sperm Bank we take pride in providing you with the highest ethical standards and quality. How do we do that?

  • We offer “Pure Sperm™.” All of our sperm is purified through a double gradient column, which provides a gentler way of preparation that protects the sperm from damaging oxygen-free radicals. Other sperm bank providers generally only centrifuge raw semen, which may contain leukocytes, bacteria, and debris resulting in a “dirty pellet.”
  • Our use of a new generation cryopreservation medium to freeze our sperm in, that has been shown to:
    • Maintain semen function and DNA integrity with the help of antioxidants and key amino acids.
    • Maintain a stable environment due to its dual buffer system.
  • We are directly audited by numerous regulatory authorities for the highest level of accurate screening and testing protocols required. Beware of sperm imported from other countries that do not have this level of direct regulatory oversight.
  • We meet every one of our donors. Every sperm donor walks through our doors at our singular state-of-the-art facility to donate.

Donor sperm Home Insemination FAQs

Home Insemination presents individuals with the chance to pursue pregnancy within the familiar setting of their own home using intracervical insemination (ICI). This method involves drawing the sperm sample into a syringe without a needle, inserting the syringe into the vagina, and then expelling the sperm onto the cervix.

Insemination timing is very important, and it can be tricky if you have irregular cycles. Even if your cycles are very regular, it’s a good idea to track your ovulation for a month or two prior to performing your first insemination. Home ovulation detection kits are very accurate and there are great apps out there you can use to figure out your typical ovulation day. For women with regular monthly cycles, ovulation usually takes place somewhere between day 10 and 16. Women with very irregular cycles may have a limited chance of conception and there may be medical issues such as thyroid problems causing the irregular periods. It’s best to consult a medical professional to learn more.

There is a lot of evidence that eating a healthy diet and avoiding toxic habits such as smoking, vaping, drugs and alcohol are important even in the months before conception, so this is a good opportunity to get on the right track. For the best chance of getting pregnant it’s also a good idea to have the right amount of exercise in your life – not too much, not too little. It is also recommended to start taking a multivitamin or prenatal vitamin a few months before getting pregnant. Healthy habits and vitamins may actually increase your chance of conception.

Healthy sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for at least three days. However, for optimal chances of conception, it is recommended to perform insemination approximately 24 hours before and at the time of ovulation.

Home insemination success rates are approximately 10% – 20% per cycle, which is similar to success rates through intercourse. Success rates are dependent on many different factors. Please consult with your medical professional to maximize your success rates.

We recommend 1-2 vials per attempt.
