A Letter to my Egg Donor
My Sweet Egg Donor,
I simply love my life! I do not know you, but I feel a special bond with you that I would like to share. I do not have a need to meet you, and do not want anything from you, as you have already given me the world. I just want to share with you my gratitude and let you know how you single-handedly have enhanced my life beyond words.
17 years ago, I was one of many young women who was face to face with the infertility epidemic. I have always known that being a mother was going to be in my cards, I was just not prepared for all the jokers that were going to show up first. What difficult years these were for me! I was told that I needed an egg donor at the young age of 30, and as you can imagine, I was completely devastated.
When I finally decided to move forward with donor eggs, I let go of my dreams of normal pregnancy, and began my search. I found you instantly! I completely connected to a radiant photo of you. Although you were beautiful in the photo, it was not your eye color, hair color, or stature that got my attention, it was the inner beauty and spark in your eye that I loved. My friends and family always tell me they love my spirit and inner beauty and your smile really resonated with me.
Because of you, my life is so complete. Not only do I have my beautiful twin boys, I became pregnant with my third son within months after giving birth to my twins. They say you are the most fertile right after giving birth, that was true for me. What a wonderful surprise! After going through this journey, I have such compassion and empathy for others who are also faced with this that I have turned it into a career that I love.
So, today when I woke up and looked at my boys, my career, my life, I realize how incredibly lucky I am. I am so thankful for you, my sweet egg donor, and that the stars lined up to connect us in such a unique way. You have no idea what you have done for me! I hope every day that your life is as rich and full of love as mine is. Thank you!
