With the days growing longer, the sun growing brighter, and the air growing warmer, it is safe to say that summer is in full force this July. As the world reopens and the heat reaches record breaking numbers, it is clear this summer is bound to be one for the books. The World Egg Bank knows this and has curated a long list of ways to beat the heat this summer season.

  1. Wage a wild water balloon war! Head to your local dollar store and load up on ammo, or rather water balloons. Gather your friends or family, divide the balloons, and begin your battle! This is the perfect way to get outside, get active, and get cooled off.
  2. Perfect the ultimate summer popsicle! Popsicles really are one of the most timeless summer traditions and so easy to make too. Summer provides the perfect opportunity to mix and match popsicle recipes in search of the ultimate combination. Is lemonade or Sprite the best base? Fresh fruit or candy the best additive?
  3. Get to work tie dying! Visit your local Target or Walmart and load up on white clothes and accessories. Or for some added fun, use thrifted clothes or stuff from your own closet! Then all you have to do is purchase a tie dye kit on Amazon and get to work. Mix it up by trying different techniques or by using bleach instead!
  4. Become a pro bowler! With bowling alleys opening back up, it is the perfect time to get working on your bowling skills. Not feeling up to going out? No problem! Set up backyard bowling by using old bottles filled with water for pins and any ball laying around the house.
  5. Pop into the pool! Another classic summer activity to beat the heat, diving into the pool on a hot day. Take it up a notch by adding water balloons and your homemade popsicles. Don’t feel like getting out at dark? No problem! Make it an outside movie night in the pool!
  6. Fall into firework fun! With the Fourth of July around the corner, it is the perfect time to indulge in a light show. Load up the back of the car with friends and family and head to the closest firework show near you. Or mix it up by having your own backyard fun with sparklers. Whatever you choose to do, be sure to practice diligent fire safety.
  7. Live large in a DIY lounge! All you need is a kiddie pool and all of your pillows and blankets. Take the pool to the location of your choosing, the backyard or living room for example. Line the pool with blankets and then add your pillows. Chill out with your homemade popsicles or a good book and enjoy!
  8. Prepare a pillow fort party! Similar to the DIY lounge, this requires plenty of pillows and blankets. For some added comfort, feel free to add a blow-up mattress too. Gather your friends and get to building the ultimate pillow fort. Crawl on in and get comfy, because it is time to binge watch your favorite movies!
  9. Begin a board game battle! Board games are a classic summer pass time. They are a great way to stay inside but never get bored. Pick your favorite games and turn it into a competition to see who picks the next game.
  10. Raid and reorganize! With the extra time on your hands the summer is the perfect time to work on improving your home. Raid your closets and pantry. Reorganize the fridge and bathrooms. There is always something to be cleaned and reorganized, why not start now?

No matter where you are this July, we are sure it is hot! However, we hope that this list of fun and easy ways to beat the heat help you make the most of your summer. In need of more inspiration?
