Eggs Without Borders: We are Cycling Donors!

June 9, 2015

The World Egg Bank Staff is working to put more eggs in the bank for our Recipients!

The World Egg Bank business model would, ideally, cycle donors as they are approved and put on the roster, so that their eggs are available to our Recipients immediately, however, some donors are never selected while other are selected multiple times. Recipients are most often, looking for genetics that match their family profile. This makes donor selection unpredictable as we do not know our recipients’ personal preferences. Ultimately, there is no way to know how long a certain donor will wait to be selected – if she ever is. However, we have seen that once a donor is selected, she is more likely to be selected again, as she is a proven donor and the time it takes to put her through a cycle is greatly reduced. The World Egg Bank is using this data to better our services for recipients.

By cycling popular, local donors through before they are selected, The World Egg Bank is able to provide more frozen options for our recipients, which they are likely to select based on currents trends. Keep an eye out on updates made to the frozen roster!

The Mother Hen
