Endless Summer Treats

With summer coming to an end, holidays are just around the corner. At The World Egg Bank, we want to make sure everyone has endless enjoyment of life. What is a better way to enjoy yourself than filling your tummy with delicious treats? In this August blog, we’re delivering one of our favorite and simple recipes to bring to any holiday gathering. We want to continue the smiles all month long and give you the opportunity to pass them along with a mouthwatering experience!  

 

Tres Leches Cake

How to make Tres Leches cake

1. Head to the market 

  • 1 yellow cake box mix (Betty Crocker preferred) 
  • Eggs 
  • Vegetable oil 
  • 1 can of evaporated milk (14 oz)  
  • 1 can of sweet and condensed milk (14 oz) 
  • Gallon of any type of milk (Vitamin D preferred)
  • Heavy whipping cream (1 pint or 2 cups) 
  • Sugar 
  • Strawberries 

 

2. Bake your cake

  • Grab your vegetable oil, eggs and water (I replace the water with milk). 
  • Follow the directions on the back of your cake box. bake. 
  • Once finished baking, cut the crusts of your cake off and poke holes all throughout the cake with a fork.

 

3. Leche

  • In a blending container, pour one can of evaporated milk, one can of sweet and condensed milk, then fill either one of your empty cans back up with milk and pour into your blending container.
  • Blend it all up. 
  • One all mixed up, pour it all over the cake. 
  • Wrap up your cake with some plastic wrap and then place it in the fridge for 2-3 hours (the longer the better).

 

4. Frosting

  • Take a large mixing bowl and pour in your heavy whipping cream, along with 3 spoonful of sugar or more (to your liking). 
  • Whip it up.
  • Once all whipped up, pour onto your cake, and spread it all over. 

 

5. Add a little “spice” 

  • Cut up some strawberries, toss them on top of the cake and voilà, your next party favorite dessert :)
