We’ve gone into podcasting! Our Founder and CEO, Diana Thomas was featured in Episode 159: “The World Egg and Sperm Bank – Diana Thomas” with the podcast show, “I Want To Put A Baby in You”. This podcast delves deeply into under-educated and captivating topics surrounding reproductive issues and reproductive health, from artificial insemination to egg donation and retrieval, with refreshing transparency and candor.

Diana not only has professional experience to share from being a pioneer in the egg bank industry in the U.S but has used egg donors to start her family herself! Through that journey she realized the need for equalized quality care and focus on recipients and donors, through ethical medical and business practices, and we have been doing just that since 2004!
In this episode, Diana shares her own experience with fertility issues and years of fertility treatment, which led to her receiving eggs from multiple egg donors and later her 3 sons. In the past, she shares how the egg donation industry and education has grown so much since that point when most women and doctors knew very little about the option and process of egg donation. She describes how she had to outsource her own potential donors through a newspaper ad, and even wrote up her own contract!
After this experience, Diana describes the isolation she felt, being treated like an “oddity”. She felt as if she shouldn’t speak about her recipient journey. She was able to find support from other women who were parents of egg donation, who understood her experience, helping her gain confidence in her reproductive path.
“I learned to follow my heart … This was my life, not anybody else’s.”
Diana describes when later starting her own company, she was able to see all sides of the egg donor and recipient experience, revealing the improvements that could be made in the industry. This is visible in the standards and practices at The World Egg and Sperm Bank, especially in terms of ethical actions, such as making sure that donors are properly screened and cared for in-person at our facility.
